UPCOMING SERMONS
Information about upcoming Sunday morning teachings
March 14 Dan Wilburn: Lent 2 of 3 Essential Christian Disciplines This follows up on the Rule of Life teaching. Now we populate the Rule with eremitic disciplines, namely solitude, silence, and reposed prayer (waiting prayer). Fasting is included in here as well as it is the underlying value of all these type of disciplines. Mark 1:35 “Early in the morning…”
March 21 Adam Lipps: Walking in the Wilderness Part 3: Salvation in the Desert Everybody is doing prequels these days, and so are we! To find our way forward, to find how we answer the problems of our idolatry and desert wandering, we must go backward in the story of the Israelites in the wilderness to one of the most famous Bible stories of all time. It is at the Red Sea that God showed the Israelites and all of us what He intends to do for His children … and why!
March 28 Dan Wilburn: Lent 3 of 3 Anatomy of the Giver We return to a more accessible, attainable teaching rather than the thick monk life material. Anatomy of the Giver speaks of living a self-giving, sacrificial lifestyle. Action always accompanies contemplation. But one cannot only do action. Mark 1:38 – “Let us go…”

April 4 Dan Wilburn: Easter We have the opportunity of April 4: This is the day of Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, and other commemorative events. The Gospel of the Resurrection is NOT about the assurance of life after death. Easter is about rising of Jesus amongst his followers. It is empowerment and mission, culminating in Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Texts are pinned to 1 Corinthians 15, the resurrection chapter, and the last verse: 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
